Proposal

The resident artists become part of the community life of the place and are welcomed to participate in the agricultural activities such as the olive harvest for oil and foraging in the woods for wild delicacies.

Each artist that participates in the programme donates an art work or trace at the end of their residency. Donated artworks will hang throughout the property, giving the the space a visual memory of past residents’ work and their experience of the place. The resulting art collection also forms a valuable asset that can be sold over time to make space for new artworks and to help raise funds for the continuation of the residency program.

Requirements

There is a fee of €50 a week. This goes towards running the house and the continuation of the residency program. In addition, we ask for a donation from each artist, which is to be an open conversation at all times between the artist and Agricola Portofino.

The residency includes accommodation, a studio, weekly house clean and one weekly family meal.

What is not included in the residency are travel costs, extra living expenses, food, drinks, materials or insurance. It is not recommended that residents hire a car as the Portofino piazzetta is a 20 minute walk.

Public transport is highly suggested as very comfortable.

Benefits

An authentic experience that will reveal unprecedented and genuine aspects of a local culture extraordinarily rooted in the territory and in its ancient values.

The opportunity to discover all the products that Agricola Portofino and its surroundings has to offer. You will bring home with you not only the memory of a special land but also the authenticity of its fragrances.

As part of the experience we will organize special visits within the Portofino Park.

Agricola Portofino also organises picnics immersing in the multitude of olive groves. Long lunches and dinners will feature a mixture of feasting, fireside snacks, and the opportunity to enjoy discussions with fellow participants and collaborators.

Music, yoga & meditation as well as cooking sessions may also take place during the residency.

During the residency, we will have a midpoint open studio among friends and family in order to share your work and get feedback and one final open studio in the form of an exhibition that will be open to the public.
